Andara

My dad is very happy there and we have been happy as a family. We live only ten minutes aways so he comes over frequently to visit us on Sundays. I think the activities are great. My dad goes to quite a few including the current events and the art classes. My dad is satisfied with the housekeeping that he has had. He has the same person and he really likes her. We are very happy there and he has made some nice friends. It is a great location. They offer a lot.

When my mother moved in two years ago it was excellent. There was some downturn in services, but the new Director is rectifying that. It’s improving, it’s getting better. I think they're doing a good job. They just got a new nurse. I will say they're excellent because the people give my mother her shots, they're really good, and the actual aides are excellent. They check on her twice a day. We’re satisfied with maintenance and housekeeping has improved. I think once a week they come in. The new management has been here just over six months, and they are excellent. The new Executive Director has been very responsive to any issues or suggestions and has done a good job improving food, service, and cleanliness in the time she has been there. Taking cost into account, I'd probably say the value is very good.

Maintenance is fine. It always looks clean and neat and organized. I have seen no faults in any area. The care givers stay in touch with me. Overall everything is fine. There are few hiccups here and there that I am sure can be addressed.

Management here listens to their concerns and is very communicative. My understanding is she spends quite a bit of time there and maybe even stays there from time to time so she can see what goes on past the 9-5. She has worked really hard to make a lot of improvements and connect with the residents. With Christy's efforts and recruiting she has done a great job at finding them a chef that is providing them a quality product in the dining room. They have hired better service people and the gal that is the manager is very hands on. My mother is active in mah jong, bridge and goes to the book club and a current events classes in activities. They are on point with the activity calendar and I think they do a great job. I think the housekeeping of her apartment is fine and they are very responsive when a resident needs something fixed in their apartment. Mom really likes the transportation and says the driver is very helpful.

When I walked through people smiled at me and the residents here seemed to be happy. It gave you a good feeling that someone was living here and was happy and I liked my apartment. I have met Maureen, the marketing director, and Linda, the hospitality lady. I have met Christy and the people at the front desk. They all seem ready to listen to you. I think they did a fantastic job of helping me and telling me what to do. They were very good to me and seemed to understand what I needed and what I was going through. This is a very good management team and they couldn't have done any more. I think the management team was very sensitive to what was going on in my life. They seemed to sympathize with me. The food is so much better than where I was before and the staff really helps you. The chef is trying different things. I have never heard of any community serving calamari and I really like that. The chef is trying to please everybody. The activities are very good and they go to different places. The choices are great and the exercises they have are really great. Housekeeping doesn't clean like a cleaning lady but on the whole the cleaning is good. They have been excellent. Maintenance put up a mirror for me. One day I was sitting in my living room and I heard something fall in the kitchen. I walked in and I saw a piece that was about 12 inches long sitting in the middle of the floor in between the fridge and the sink. I went down and told them about it. The glue had come off of the cupboard under the sink. They brought everything up they would need to fix it. The building looks very nice. It has these little alcoves with chairs and it is just beautiful. On the whole, I am very satisfied at this community. I think they were fair with me and the value seems to be very good. I had a two bedroom and two bathroom apartment in my previous community and my one bedroom apartment here is bigger than that.

I think the price is a little bit on the high side. However, the facility is so outstanding for cleanliness, food and the staff is super so we are willing to pay more. They have a brand new chef who is cooking unrestrained. He has brought a lot of variety to our meals. The activities are good. They have new person over assisted living activities. Three days a week they have outings to supermarkets and other places. The maintenance staff is prompt and gets it handled in one visit instead of having to come back and the facility is well kept.

A friend of mine recommended Andara to us and I visited in June, and I was very impressed with it. It was head and shoulders above the last place he was at. It's a wonderful, well-run place. It's a safe place and it's in a great location. I feel great knowing he's there. The food and service are excellent. Jill, the Activities Director, is great. She tries her best to satisfy everyone's interests. I've seen the calendars, and they have a great variety. They have a bus that takes them to all sorts of things, like the theater. He loves using the pool. The houskeeepers do a very good job. They take good care of his cleaning and laundry.

In the two years my parents have been at the community I found my personal interaction with managment very good. I was last visiting in late 2018 and found them very helpful and open. The dining staff is positive and agreeable and my mother is very happy with the interaction. She has made her thoughts available to the new chef who is agreeable with them. I feel the food is good, there is always room for improvement. Neither of my parents join in the activities at all, but I am impressed. There is a library, and they had someone from the museum talking about an art exhibit. I was impressed with the orphan's choir singing. I am impressed with the efforts to bring the community into Andara and they take residents out even for a drive. Overall it's a splendid place, it's a happy and healthy supportive community, for the most part. My parents feel that, so do I and my husband. The people are really lovely and I know they put up quite a bit from residents who are not charming all the time. I am very thankful that my parents are there.
