Carriage Court of Kenwood

The communication is good from mangement. Anything that goes on with my uncle they let me know. I like the food in the dining room and it seems like they give my uncle a steady diet. I like that. All the activities they do with my uncle are good. They do a good job with the cleaning of his apartment. They are very caring. They love him and I do too. He is in a secure atmosphere and someone is there 24/7.

I've been very, very satisfied with management and the dining staff is just so nice to my dad. The coffee is always good there and they always have it out in the lobby, it's a very welcoming atmosphere, coffee and snacks are available. People always seem to be out in the lobby enjoying activities and the housekeeping staff is always up and down the halls vacuuming or cleaning bathrooms, whatever needs to be done in the room they're always doing it.

When I have had questions for management, they have been resolved quickly and the dining service is very good. There are activities going on in the early afternoon and the employees there have been very kind to her, the aides staff has been marvelous. I've never seen her room not clean.

I am very pleased with the value my father received at Carriage Court of Kenwood. He had to give up his full apartment, but in exchange for that reduction in square footage, the care he is getting far makes up for it. I had to get my father moved pretty darn quick and management was able to accommodate everything, so the move-in was rather seamless. They seem to have a lot of things he enjoys during the dining experience and the dining service is satisfactory. In terms of activities, my father does take advantage of the Catholic mass on Saturdays, so I'd say that is one of the biggest benefits for him, especially when it's cold out just to see his priest. The housekeeping has been pretty satisfactory and there haven't been any issues or hiccups with laundry. They even make his bed for him, which is nice. Nothing at the community seems rundown and when I was doing tours of other communities, Carriage Court just seemed nicer. With regards to his care, there was an instance he fell, but someone was there almost immediately to tend to him, so overall the services are good.

My mom will be at Carriage Court of Kenwood for 3 years this year, so I go every day because I have sort of adopted everyone at the community too. It's a family atsmophere there and I think we all realize we're all in this together from upper management to middle management to the RAs and Nurses, so I think at this point right now, it's very good. There is a new Executive Director and Sales person who are really commited to doing a good job and I have always been able to get answers from the other staff. I have ate the food at the communtiy and thought it was good, plus the staff helps her with meals. The place offers lots of good activities and I would say that no one is neglected in participating. They have a gal in housekeeping that works in my moms area and it is spotlessly cleaned once a week. The laundry is always done and her clothing is always folded, so I have never had any problems with that service. With regards to the healthcare services that are offered, it's excellent. It's consistently the same staff, same Nurse and you don't have that feeling of who is going to show up because they're all every dedicated. One gal has been there 19 years and another 14 years, so that says a lot. Overall, if this is what it costs to get the best care, because she is getting it, then she is staying there. It's also not even the most expensive in our area, so I think it's a fair price.

I feel good that my mom is safe there, that her safety is a priority for them. It was really the only place that we thought was right for her, I think for what we're paying for, she's getting that service. I do feel like management cares for the residents and everyone at the front desk is always very friendly, any time we ever had a question to anyone in management, they've always been able to answer so we do appreciate that. The healthcare staff all seem to care, they all know my mom by name, they seem to know about the medications when we ask questions and are readily available. The building is beautiful, it feels good to know that the place your parents are living is clean, that's very important.
