Chaucer Estates

The value here is outstanding and management gets things done when I need things done. The activities they have are fine, housekeeping does an amazing job with the cleaning and the laundry and maintenance fixes anything that goes wrong.

I really like my apartment and I am happy with it. Management is responsive to people when they have complaints. Housekeeping is great.

I think the food and the menu are good, it's pretty diverse. I think the healthcare staff is good, my dad seems to enjoy them. He tells me pretty regularly that they take good care of him. He's on a fixed income and they're working to keep him there so he doesn't have to move.

I think this community is ranked among the better as far as the price goes. If you need something you can always go by and talk to someone in management about it. They are always in the dining room. This community offers quite a few activities. They have a calendar and post them on the white board in the dining room each day. They have field trips and trips to the grocery store. This community meets our needs very well and we are very thrilled with it.

They have gone out of their way to make my dad feel comfortable and welcome. I have eaten there and the food is outstanding. They do offer some really good activities. They do trips to the casino, shopping and church. That is all super appealing. Housekeeping and laundry is doing an amazing job. His room always looks and smells very clean.

They are very courteous and caring. It is a lovely place. They give them healthy portions in the dining department. Mom enjoys the bible studies they have in activities and has tried the movies in the theater. She is pleased with the housekeeping and maintenance service. It is all kept very clean. The care staff is very helpful with mom.

I'm pleased that the people in charge are here now, the ones that were here when I moved in, I was not happy with them. They did not mingle with the people living here but these girls do and I never have a problem getting an answer of any kind. In terms of maintenance, John is always here when I call and I always get an answer or service so that to me is very important, and they're both friendly. Regarding activities, what I participate in is fine; it's more than adequate.

Jill has been the best manager so far. The management team is so willing to do anything for my dad, it's kind of incredible. You just feel like it's a family and I know management has a lot to do with that. They do a great job with maintenance. We call him John the baptist, he can do anything and he does. If we need anything, he's just so willing to do whatever we need help with. They're so kind and helpful. From appearances it looks like they do a good job with the activities. They post things; they have newsletters and events organized. They take my dad around in his wheelchair and try to get him to do the activities if they think he'd enjoy that. How they do this for a living I don't know but the healthcare staff is great and they love my dad, he feels loved.

I told my son that when it comes time for me to need assisted living I want to come back here to Chaucer Estates. I would recommend it to anyone who needs a place like this to live. I have gone to the casino on the bus with activities. Gina the person that does the transportation is wonderful. John in maintenance is really terrific. I have heard people ask him to check something and he does it immediately. He is a knowledgeable, hard working, caring man. The staff comes around in the dining room and visits with us and I think that is wonderful. I think they do everything they can to make sure the residents are safe and happy. I loved it here.

My mother had broken her neck and needed assistance, so we chose Chaucer Estates, but after it healed she wanted to be independent and that is the only reason she left. If she had to ever go back there, I would send her back since she felt safe and comfortable at the community. Management was respectful, knowledgeable, accessible and responsive to our needs. While we had maintenance issues, the maintenance staff fixed them immediately and the common areas looked really good. She liked how the housekeeping staff did their work, but she did her own laundry because she was bored. My mom wasn't into cards and games much, but there was a lady there who took them to eat or to the grocery store, so she was always coming up with fun things for the residents to do. In regards to care, at first she required a lot of help with showers when she still had a brace, but she loved everyone there and there was always plenty of staff, so overall it was an excellent place for her.
