The Forum at the Woodlands

It was recommended by a few people and it was convenient. It's not cheap but it seems like my mom's getting a lot for her money, so that's good. The management staff was excellent; they were very responsive, polite and friendly. She doesn't do a lot of activities other than the physical therapy but we are well aware of the different activities available. The housekeepers come to her room and clean and that seems fine and she says the food is good. As for care services, they're extremely friendly and extremely efficient. They seem to be taking really good care of her.

Overall it is a little expensive, but as long as I've been here the service has been good, so it evens out. The food is very good. I have no complaints. I don't have to make it, so that's all the better. I haven't participated, but that's my fault. I'm kind of a loner, so many times I just prefer to sit outside with the dog or just stay in my room. I'm going to start an agility training session. I like the outside and I like being outside. Everybody is really friendly and helpful, and I'm enjoying it as much as I can.

I chose the community because they offered 24/7 nursing on site and my insurance required me to be in a facility that offered that. It also is within biking range of my daughter. They have a hell of a good crew here. The ladies who do the laundry are very helpful. I would not be here if this was not the best facility in the area. All in all, it's good money-wise.

The grounds are beautiful; there are a couple of lakes. The pool is pretty, everything is well maintained. It's really nice and there is a full kitchen in the apartment, which is awesome too. It's completely surrounded by trees; there are walking paths so there are always other people around. They're close to a shopping strip. It's close for me and to take them if they need it, they're not isolated. I have a lot of flight attendant friends in the same boat as I am and we fly for a living so we're gone and need a place like this for our parents. Two other friends of mine have moved their parents in there, so it's been awesome.

My mother liked the atmosphere and the people were very friendly compared to the other place we looked at. It seems like there is staff around very often, I was hardly on the property when I didn't run into somebody so I do feel it's pretty safe. The management staff is just very available and helpful. They don't rush you through and want to answer all your questions. The dining service seems to be very good, when she asks for something they try to accommodate her. She went to a party and played bingo a few times and I think she's very pleased with what's available for activities. She really likes her housekeeper and thinks she's doing a great job. She has also had real good experiences with the maintenance staff.

It's nice, quiet and the landscaping is really nice. The people are friendly and the food is great. I couldn't believe that you get four choices. I've only been here for a few weeks but I've heard more ladies say they feel so safe and secure out here that it makes me feel that way. The activities are great. Everybody is so nice here.

We liked it the best and my mother-in-law picked it. The other place just didn't have as warm of a feeling; The Forum is a lot older but just felt friendlier. It's really good because she supposedly got a big special that was going on at the time and we think it's good. For what she needed and her price point I think its great amenities and seems like a very active community. The housekeeping ladies came and met with her and said how nice they were. It's gone well and is a great help.
