Grand Victorian of Sycamore

The staff care about my mom and they go out of their way to show me that they care about her and they are trying to do right for her. I just feel like it is a friendly, calm and positive and supportive situation where they want to do what is right for her and make sure she is happy and well cared for in her last few years.

The management has always been very friendly and very helpful. My dad says the food is great there. It seems like they clean his room well and they are very good with his laundry. The care givers are awesome and the full time nurse that is there during the week is wonderful and is very good with him. I couldn't say enough about the nurses there; they are the best.

I think management does a very good job, they come around ask if you have any questions, are very cordial and get to know you. I tell people that it's a great place to be and that I enjoy it very much.

I think they treat everyone individually and according to their needs. They have been accommodating to my visits and I feel like we are all working together. I really appreciate that. Mom feels comfortable and is able to navigate there now. The management staff are responsive to the residents needs. They are very approachable.

The staff here is fabulous and Shannon, the general manager, was a huge help. The nursing staff was unbelievably compassionate and I cannot say enough about them. It is an expensive place to be but she got everything that we were promised and the accommodations and services were great. The food looked fine when I visited and the servers were very accommodating. The building and grounds were lovely. It was very clean and it is brighter, cleaner and warmer than most communities.

We chose this community for my mom for the convenience of having it so close and how clean it is. We love her apartment. She has a view into the courtyard. I know she is safe now and I am sleeping again. She has been happy with everything in the dining department. If mom didn't like the main entrée there is always something else to choose from. The menu doesn't seem to repeat too often. When I walk in her apartment it is always clean and her laundry is always done. There appears to be plenty of staff available to tend to the residents. I always see them when I am visiting as they go from room to room.

Management is always nice and answer any questions that we have. My mother in law seems to like the food and she likes the dessert. The service is apparently fine because she doesn't say anything about it. There are a lot of activities. She enjoys bingo and the concerts they bring in. She went to a crafts thing. I commented on a candle and she told me that she made it. The cleaning seems to be fine. She had a new handle put on her door by maintenance because hers wasn't working. The building looks great. As soon as I walked in I knew she would like this place. The community is bright and everyone is cheerful. The whole atmosphere is nice. The price is comparable to in home care where we would have to feed her, buy groceries and we would have to work on the weekend. This way her routine stays the same and that continuity is the best for her. I actually think it is better than in home care.

Everybody in management has been great, it's been wonderful for us, we love it there. We're really satisfied with the care, as far as the nurses and everything, everyone has just been fantastic and that's really what matters to us.

They do have activities outside of the community. Everything has been satisfactory.

I am satisfied with the value I receive at Grand Victorian of Sycamore. As residents, we're charged fairly for the area and the services that they provide to us. In general, the staff at the community is wonderful, they're much better than you'd expect them to be and you can see their commitment, so it's been an excellent place to live. While I don't need a lot of help at this time, the community has good Nurses and very helpful Nurse's aides, so I am satisfied with the care. Regarding maintenance, the maintenance man is fine, they do a good job with the outside and they do a very nice job of keeping the community clean of odors. In terms of housekeeping, I do my own laundry, but I think the housekeeping staff does a good job with my apartment. Overall, management keeps a nice, clean and safe environment going for us, and that matters, so I am have been satisfied with my experience at the community and feel comfortable here.
