North Shore Place

I'm always telling people to look into it, I'd totally recommend it. Administratively they do a great job. I think the family owns other properties and they've learned over time what is important to clientele in North Shore and I think they really cater to that. The CNA Maria is like family. The nursing staff has been consistent and is very capable; we especially have a great relationship with Olga. They are all good. They love him, they give my dad attention and gave him a birthday party, and they really dote on him. In truth, that's why we're there. It's all about the care for my dad.

It is not somewhere she wanted to go. But within a few months, she is very happy there. I don't think I could find a better place. The nurses on her floor do an excellent job. They know me when I come. They are very responsive. They call me whenever anything comes up. I think that the activities are terrific. She is a lot more active here than she ever was when she was alone in Florida. My experience so far is that things have been pretty well run there. When there is an issue, I get a call.

Overall I've been pleased with the management. I think it's going good for the most part. My mother just gets her blood pressure checked every day so she hasn’t needed a lot of services. She's getting chemo right now and there's great confidence that if she needed anything, it's there. Everyone is extremely friendly there. I think the maintenance is doing fine. Everything looks good. I'm very pleased with the place in general.

This is, by far, the best facility she's been at. The amenities that have, the condition that they keep it in, and the services they provide are definitely worth it. The management staff has always accommodated my grandmother. She's the oldest resident there. They’ve had a birthday party and invite reporters in, and they listen to her complaints. They are incredibly patient and incredibly gracious. Truly, the caregivers go above and beyond. The property's in great shape. We think that there are a diverse and sufficient number of activities for her.

It was in line with what I was used to. I know the prices pretty well. My mother raved about the food, and she's not a big eater, so that's big news. Whenever someone needed anything, maintenance came to take care of it. Nursing services were fine. They were very responsive. They went above and beyond in an incident where my mom fell and had to go to the hospital and the nursing staff actually followed up with the hospital. It was really nice. Other than a few minor issues, it was great.

It's been two years now, and it's still as good as it was when they moved in. The management has been responsive and is knowledgeable of anything going on with my parents. The dining has been excellent. We have had a few issues with some areas, but nothing that isn't being resolved.

At the community my dad is very active on the board for about two years. He notifies me of changes going on. He enjoys the dining room menus. Whatever kinds of changes to the menus that can occur make it more interesting because all of the folks there are captive audiences. On Sundays, there are sandwiches and not a full menu. As far as cleanliness the dining area seems to be very good.
He enjoys the programs and probably attends them at least two times a day. He is very much into yoga and he likes the exercise programs. He usually goes out on most of the trips that are organized. He frequently makes suggestions. He really enjoys the music programs and the exercise programs. In addition, he uses the transportation in the winter and that has been good. I would recommend going to a facility like this if someone needs assisted living. It depends on what the person needs. But, it's a great place to live.
