The Oaks, A Merrill Gardens Community

Both of my parents are living here and it has been a positive experience. Mom loves the food and they both like the scenic routes they offer from activitise. The maintenance team has been quick to respond to their requests. They are happy here.

Everything I've experienced at The Oak has been the greatest. The people there are great on every level. It's a nice building, it's clean and fairly new. Housekeeping and laundry have been fantastic and the caregivers have been wonderful.

I have lived here for about a year and a half. The maintenance guys are really quick. Not too long ago I had a major problem and I called them and someone was here in about 20 minutes. They are very courteous and helpful. It is a very beautiful building to live in, the food and laundry services are good and I enjoy the outings with the activity department. I get good care and it is safe care. Overall, I like living here.

Since my parents moved in, my mom participates and enjoys some of the activities. She does the church activities, and when they have the root beer floats, and I think they've gone out for a couple of meals. I think the building is well-kept. The caregivers come in to help my dad. He's in hospice care right now, and I think hospice is doing a good job. We're satisfied with maintenance, housekeeping, dining and food, and the management too. The value is probably average, but I know my parents are safe and comfortable in The Oaks.

For what my mom is getting, this community is far superior to where she was before. Management is very informative. They took me on the tour and explained everything. They are very caring. The food quality is very good and the service in the dining room is very nice. My mom has enjoyed the activities she has participated in so far. The housekeeping at this community is very good and the nurses are very responsive. They called me several times to discuss her medications and her physical problems.

Somebody told us about The Oaks, we went and checked it out, and we loved the staff and thought it was secure. Our main concern was that mom couldn’t leave the building, she's in Memory Care. I think everything's good, it's probably only been a month. The care staff is very friendly, even when we leave, someone will always come up with mom to make sure she doesn’t follow us out. The management team was just really supportive and explained everything. They have been really good. One time she left her glasses, and they cared, they searched and found them. I haven’t eaten there but I sat with my mom while she ate, and she ate everything on the plate. They have a chef there, so it's the best menu I've seen in a care center. Service is really good, we ate in the main dining room and they waited on her with a lot of patience. Maintenance and housekeeping are great. Every time I'm in mom's room it's very clean, no smells. She shares a bathroom and it's very clean, they've done a good job. They are doing the laundry and they do make sure, she wasn’t changing her clothes at the other place so much, and they make sure mom's wearing different clothes every time I'm there. She really loves it there, everyone is very friendly, she's safe there, and I would highly recommend it to anybody.
