The Sheridan at Overland Park

The price seems to be fairly comparable to other places. My father-in-law is safe, clean and being fed. The staff all seems to be doing their jobs and if that is what it costs for the services he is getting, then it is fair. I am truly pleased with all the management there. They are all excellent and have always treated me well and with a lot of respect. They have been helpful with anything. He is pleased and thinks the food is good. It looks like they have a good variety and the residents are allowed to pick different things. I think that is excellent because they get to choose what they want to eat. The service is excellent from what I have seen. My father in law has liked the fact that he can get involved in things there. I have seen him participating in a lot of activities that I never expected him too. It seems like he is enjoying it and the activities seem to be pretty diverse. The housekeeping is very good. They are in there and making sure that everything is clean. They make sure his laundry is done and his trash is removed promptly. I have never smelled any foul smells there that they didn't attend to right away. Maintenance has always been right there when I ask for something. They are very knowledgeable and helpful. They had to take him to a doctor's appointment once or twice. He made it where he was going and back in one piece so I would say they are doing an excellent job. The caregivers I have interacted with have been very professional and responsive. All in all, if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

I chose the community for my mom because it seemed to be the best one in terms of the quality of the facility, the staff, the cleanliness, the options for mom and the things for her to do. I like the look and feel of it, the newness of it. It looked like a place she could be happy as this is a big change for her. I think they are very responsive and very caring in terms of the management staff. As for dining, I think they are better than a lot of places. It's good, it's not great. We go and dine with her about once a week. The dining room is beautiful the services is good and the food is good. Regarding activities, I think there is a great selection. She has been to quite a few. She has gone to the crochet and knitting, she's gone to a wine thing and a church service. I think it's really good. The housekeeping seems to be good. The place seems to be looking clean, I know they come and empty the trash regularly and they seem to be on it. The maintenance staff helped mount her TV brackets of the walls and they were reallt responsive.They came to meet her. She met almost everybody her first week. She's taking advantage of occupational and physical therapy. She had one appointment with the doctor to be checked out and her feedback about those things has been really positive. I have met the occupational therapist and she really seems to know her stuff. She came is and watched her routine before she prescribed any routine. The big thing is if the staff have a caring and nurturing attitude towards the residents. I think the people are very well trained and carefully selected.

What we're paying for the value is good. The maintenance guys are great and they've gone on tours with the transportation services and those have always been good. It's neat, clean and tidy and they do take care of my mom's room. I don't see any problems with that at all. Overall, everything is pretty well taken care of.

I've lived here for almost ayear now and I think the value is okay. The food is okay, breakfasts are wonderful, they're very good. Housekeeping is good and it's a new facility, everything is handled quickly. The CNAs are responsive and answer any call very quickly, they're all pretty good.

When the place first opened I was here, I’ve been here for over a year and a half now. Our Activity Director, I have high praise for her. The activities are very well-planned, she is very organized. You can ask her a month in advanced and she can tell you what activities will be going on. The housekeeper, she is very conscientious and concerned. If something gets spilled along the way she is Johnny-on-the-spot and takes care of it. She is very nice and helpful, very courteous. It's a good system she has. The gentlemen in maintenance here are very good. If you need something, if your heater isn’t working right, they're down here in an hour and take care of it. The outside, the lawn, the building, it's all in good repair.

The price is comparable with other communities. Management seems to take care of things when they need to be taken care of. The food is always good and it is excellent. The service is generally very good. They have done an excellent job. For those who can move, this community provides a lot of outings for the residents. My wife is never out of clothing and it is always done on time. The staff knows what clothing belongs to every room. The cleanliness of her room is very good. When it is icy, the sidewalks outside are always salted. They take care of their building. There is a handyman who comes about every week to touch up nicks and scratches. The building is in top notch shape. The care is very good. The staff is good with the residents not being able to communicate very well. They do very well at diagnosing conditions. My wife gets much better care here than if I were to have her at home. I am totally satisfied with this community.

We looked at five communities that day and when we got to The Sheridan we were just overall impressed with the community, the staff, and the residents who all seemed happy. It seems like a good fit for dad, and it's in close proximity to my sister and I. Any questions that I have, the Executive Director is helpful. When signing things for my dad, she explained things thoroughly, was very friendly. Everything so far at The Sheridan has been a positive experience, and he's been there exactly one month. The caregivers have all been very, very helpful. Dad seems to be happy with the meals and the servers are very helpful. The residents seem to be enjoying the activities, and they give dad a daily list. Part of the decision to move there, they have a variety of activities and they can provide physical and occupational therapy. I know when we toured the community you could see electric equipment or where people smudged the wall and those blemishes appear to be immediately fixed, so maintenance is good. We opted for a large studio as opposed to a one bedroom because we liked the physical layout better, and dad is comfortable in it. I've said to many people that I'd like to live there. The staff is attentive, I can’t say anything negative. This first month has been positive, and the key is that dad is happy, and he is happy and safe there. It has all the amenities you could possibly ask for.

Everyone at this community has been very helpful and knows my friend. Management makes it a point to know all the residents and the visitors. If they cannot answer a question for me, they find it out. My friend finds the food very good. She likes the variety and the servers are very good, helpful and patient. They answer the same question numerous times at the same table and they never seem to be irritated about that. There seems to be a good variety of activities at this community. The staff is very patient. There is always art and music going on. Her favorite thing is when the staff dances with the residents. She physically can't dance because she is in a wheelchair, but they still include her and she chair dances. All the residents enjoy that. This community has been very good with the housekeeping. My friend spilled something on the floor and they came immediately to clean it up. The building is very nice and very clean. The caregivers make it a point to know the residents and those who visit the residents. I have never seen such a caring and attentive group of people. The most she has had to wait is five minutes before they respond to her call. For a new community, they did a fabulous job in hiring very caring people. The staff here is exceptional.

Since my paretns moved in three years ago I think the service staff in the dining area have been very courteous and very helpful. They know everyone by name. They know when I stop in and know who I am. My mom would give them very high marks. The care givers are very kind and very courteous. My dad struggles at remembering things and they are good about helping him. They know his quirks at this point. It has been a really good experience.

I absolutley love the natural light that my dad gets in his apartment. The whole community is so warm and inviting from the moment you walk in. Camillia, is so energetic and creative with the activities she provides. Brenda, one of the aides, has gone above and beyond in helping with my dad from getting his meals to helping him shower and doing his laundry, she is amazing.
