Barrington of Oakley

So far our experience has been outstanding, it doesn't matter which person we're dealing with at the Barrington, whether it's the Head of Nursing or the Head of Activities or the building itself or the chef, we have had nothing but exemplary treatment and they're right on it when we have questions or needs. My mom said she likes the food and Amy goes out of her way with activities, she plans a variety and quality of activities, it's very good. My mom enjoys the music they have had, they went down to the river and ate out, and she thought that was great. Amy put up fantastic Halloween decorations and all the residents were enamored with them, it was fabulous. They had a family bluegrass barbecue dinner outside and it was so fun. The maintenance is excellent, the outdoor landscaping and how they change it for the seasons. The healthcare staff is respectful; I just can't say enough about the facility, I hope other people realize what a good place it is.

Since I work in healthcare, I know what the price ranges are and I think it's very adequate at Barrington of Oakley. Management at the community knows who I am, they know who she is, they always greet her and are always cordial, so they're very welcoming and friendly. She hasn't lost any weight while she has been there, so while I don't eat the food, she certainly is. When she comes down to the dining hall, the staff always makes sure that she gets coffee and they know her routine. As far as I can tell, her room is always clean, they come to empty her garbage every single day and she never has dirty sheets, so I am very pleased with the whole service there all together. When I let maintenance know, he is very good about things and other than the cable; she hasn't had anything go wrong in the apartment. They were also very good about hanging her pictures initially and doing what needed to be done, so he is very good and very tolerant of all the seniors there. With regards to her care, all the caregivers know her name and she jokes around with them. Overall, it's been a pleasant experience and I have already recommended the community to about 50 people.

After two years there, my grandmother needed more skilled nursing and had to move. The caregivers were always attentive to her needs and always attentive to my questions. Whenever I was there and had questions they were always helpful. They were conscious if things needed to change. I thought her room was always clean, well-managed, and the housekeeper was kind and helpful. Grandma did her own laundry, and having the laundry room there was phenomenal. It was always clean, and it was huge. I felt the management was always attentive to my requests. I felt it was a well-run organization, a clean building, and employees seemed happy. It seemed to be well-managed so they were able to care for the residents. Maintenance was good, they always did a nice job, took care of any kind of problem. The building was well cared for and well managed. Grandma used the bus transportation service to go to the grocery store. It was fine, it was available. I think that it was nice there were a lot of things included; I appreciated not having an a la carte system. I think it was high, the price, but I know every place is. The cleanliness and care, I feel they delivered on those. She would have liked to stay there, but her health made it necessary to make a change.

We are very happy we decided to come to the Barrington. I think their activities are wonderful. They have good movies, nice music, the Happy Hour. The activities are excellent. I'm perfectly happy with that, they do a great job with activities. I know the maintenance guy personally and he's very responsive. He's given me his personal cell phone number and the overall appearance of the community is good. He goes above and beyond my expectations. Hallways are clean, landscaping is nice, and outside is always picked up. Housekeeping comes in once a week and does the vacuuming, clean the linens, and I think that's fine. I know her trash is emptied daily. They do a fine job. The caregivers check on her and are very responsive, very respectful. The managers are very friendly, they know me, and are always welcoming. They always try to help me with anything I need. They're always around if I have a question or need assistance. I like her apartment a lot; I think it's the perfect size for her. She's in a single bedroom now, we just moved her. She's very safe and comfortable and I can tell she feels that way. I think the price is reasonable. With the value I get out of Barrington of Oakley the price is reasonable. We get a pretty good value for our current monthly price.

My husband and I are okay with the price. During the week and business hours management is accessible and responsive. The staff at this community are full of energy and there is always something going on. The maintenance man is excellent.

I feel like this community is a very good value. Mom seems happy with the food and it seems nutritious and healthy. They have fruits and vegetables. The variety and staff in the assisted living was excellent. The staff was very gracious and kind. The activities are absolutely excellent. Overall, we are very happy.

We couldn't care for him ourselves any more so we needed a place that could do that for him and so far he has never said he wanted to go home. My dad has to be on a pureed diet so the dining is good for him. There are a lot of people who come in and entertain them. My dad seems to really enjoy that. Housekeeping comes in and cleans his little apartment and maintenance always decorates for the holidays. The staff at this community is very kind and loving towards my dad.

I think you are getting a good value at this community. Management is fantastic and are always available. They know everyone by name. You see them paying attention to residents who do not have family attend events. I called them one night to ask if someone could bring some soup to my mom because she was not feeling well. She had someone do that. Steve, the concierge, is absolutely fabulous. The menus are varied and they have good choices. They have a secondary menu that is available every day so if they do not like what is offered that day, they can order that entrée. The activities are great. They help her and make the effort to go to her room and get her for the activities. They have enough activities and they encourage the residents to do things. Housekeeping is excellent. They never miss a beat. The ladies are great. Even if they do not clean your room, they will know you name. They couldn’t be any nicer. Pat, the maintenance person, is excellent. Anything you need they will do it for you. The caregivers are outstanding. She tells me every day how nice they are to her and how good they are. They are so great. Kasha, their head nurse, does a good job with all of them. The nurses and aides couldn't be nicer and my mom loves them. They do such an excellent all around job and they really care.

The staff is lovely; the management is wonderful. They're courteous to mom and to us and they do everything we ask of them. The healthcare staff is also great. My mom doesn't do all of the activities listed on the calendar but she does got to church twice a week and movies every night. My mom is catholic so it's nice to have the church service in house for her because she's not always able to get outside to go to church.

I think she's getting a lot of service for the money so I think it's pretty good. They seem to really have a lot of activities and for different kinds of interests and that's really impressive, both in house and trips out. The healthcare staff has been really responsive. I can see they're really trying. Kacie, in management, has been there a long time and I think that's been a big help. There are always things that could be improved but overall I think she and the team are doing a good job.
