Barrington of West Chester

I like it here very much. I think the Activity Director does a fantastic job and gets better all the time. The food is pretty good and I gave the chef one of my recipes recently, so we have meetings frequently called menu chats.

I've gotten to know the executive director and several of the senior people. I think they run the facility well and they seem to have a good handle on what is going on. I think they are doing a good job. One of the reasons we chose the Barrington for my mom is because of the food service. I think it continues to be very good. The service in the dining area is excellent. I have found the nurses to be excellent.

Everything seems to be well-run at this community and management pays attention to me. The pros with the dining are the food and the variety of the food. I think the service is good and it says something favorable that the chef has been there for at least five years. The server for mom's table always knows how she likes her salad and always brings it that way. The activities have improved in terms of variety and multitude. This place is just loaded with things for them to do. There are postings everywhere to let the residents know what is happening. In the past year and year and a half, their staff has been consistent. There hasn't been much turnover and that is positive. That is good for the residents because they get to know the staff and recognize them. The nurses that mom has are very good, such as Robin and Kathy. They are really good with mom.

I thought the place was run very efficiently and cordially. The healthcare staff were always very attentive and caring. Housekeeping, dining and maintenance have all been satisfactory.

I'm there every day, go to the shows and talk to the management every single day and they have become part of my family. Carol, at the front desk, is the back bone of friendliness and I can't say enough good things about her. In terms of activities, my step-father goes down to the happy hour and the shows. The building is always clean and fresh.

After the tour, I fell in love with it. Management at the community will bend over backwards and even though she has only been there 1 month, I know almost everyone. The lady at the front desk is also just so nice and helpful. She came from a previous community where the food wasn't even palatable, to what I would call fine dining. The food here is wonderful. The dining room itself is beautiful, with plenty of space, and the assigned seating helps her know where to go every night. At her previous community, there were so many sleepless nights worrying about her, but all of that is gone because the staff here is always there for her. She gets 3 well balanced, delicious meals a day, the best of nursing care and a lovely apartment, so she is just so happy there. As soon as she moved in, she fell in love with it. I can't stop talking about the community because I think it's the best community in the area.

In my two years here I think the staff does pretty good with the activities. In terms of housekeeping, I think they do a pretty good job with coming in once a week. I think overall it is a well maintained place.

We chose Barrington of West Chester for my parents because there were only a few communities with high ceilings, with another reason being that my mother was looking for a full kitchen. So far, I think the value is very good and we like the management very much. In regards to the dining experience, the staff have been friendly and accommodating to my parents. We didn't quite understand the method of circling what you wanted on the menu for the next day, but once we got that figured out, things went very smoothly, otherwise the menu variety and food quality is satisfactory. In terms of cleanliness, we really like the housekeeper and the apartments are beautiful. The building seems excellent maintenance wise and there isn't anything broken around, plus the maintenance staff respond pretty quickly towards maintenance issues. While my parents haven't participated in any activities yet, we have walked near the lobby and the activities appeared super entertaining. It also seems that a good number of residents are in attendance because the lobby gets very full, so all in all it's been a great experience so far because the staff is accommodating and the residents are friendly.

The staff is all great at this community. The servers are great. They are very nice and attentive. They put up with a lot of grumbling. This community has a lot of things going on. There is always something to do and they do a lot of great trips outside. Everything always seems to be very clean there. It is very nice. Maintenance does a very good job. She goes on a lot of the trips and she loves it. The caregivers go above and beyond.

The lady who runs it Stephanie, is being considered for a Best Manager award so she's very good, the management here has been very stable, there's been very little change in the management in four years. This one is by far the best in terms of management, continuity of management, it's very, very good. The dining staff is very courteous and efficient and the activities are outstanding, they do a marvelous job of getting good entertainers here. Housekeeping is great, Amy does a good job. The healthcare staff has been marvelous whenever I've had problems; they're very, very good. Whenever I see friends of mine my age, I promote this place, I think it's very good.
