Glenwood Place Senior Living

My dad was in the hospital and it became clear he needed memory care. Someone in the hospital recommended it and this community had what we wanted so we moved him here. He is safe and comfortable at this community and management explained everything quite clearly to us. The food smells good and I had a hamburger at the bistro and it was very good. The servers are really good to the people that live there. The calendar of activities is posted everywhere. I was reading the list of them in the elevator today. The staff tries to get my dad to participate but he is a little resistant; however he has played bingo. He was very excited that he won candy at bingo. Maintenance has been great. They are very responsive and very helpful. The building is beautiful and clean. It doesn't have an odd scent to it and the residents seem to enjoy themselves there. The building is really great. The caregivers have been very pleasant and answer my questions. There is one lady there who has been very nice and helpful with me. They are really helpful. If they don't have an answer to a question, they tell me who will have the answer.

My daughter is an LPN who runs a skilled center class that does clinicals there so she recommended it. I think the management is responsive. My mom feels that there is good variety and overall the food is pretty good. I have been very happy with the care.

We did some searching before choosing this community and I felt like the values compared. It was cheaper than in Portland so I am happy with the price. When I have had to call or request anything, management has been pretty quick in getting back to me. I think the activities are awesome and housekeeping is very efficient. My dad really likes the gal who does his laundry. Maintenance is good and the caregivers seem to be pretty thorough about bringing him his pills. He has had a few issues but they are good about taking care of them. All in all, it is a very nice place.

The management that I know of is very efficient and very open to hearing suggestions or explanations. Friends of ours that do eat lunch at the buffet say it is very good. We are very pleased with the food. We have a weekly menu so we know what we are going to eat. Normally there is enough at the buffet to choose from. The chef comes around a couple of times a week and asks how dinner was. He will ask what we like and what we don't like. We appreciate his concern. In regards to the activities, there are so many things to choose from. No one should be bored. There is enough to do that it reaches just about everybody. I think they have done a great job of managing all aspects of Glenwood.

I have been at Glenwood Place for 9 years and I am really happy with the community because of the price, services and accommodations provided. Management is always friendly, helpful and go out of their way to get things right. The dining is good, the portions are right for seniors, there are always different combinations and the dining service is real good because we even have some staff that remembers what you order. The activities offered are really good and we have quite a crew there, so the staff there really does a good job. There are a couple of activities that really make it good with the brain games, puzzles and of course, I am a bean bag player, so the activities are well planned and satisfactory. I get my room cleaned once a week and with my laundry, the lady goes out of her way without it taking very long. She will take it at 7AM, but it's already back by 9:30AM all nice and folded, so she really goes out of her way. The maintenance staff also goes out of their way and they're top of the line, so they do a good job too. Not only do they work on work orders, they work on other things that don't require work orders as well. Regarding my care, the healthcare staff is pretty good at keeping a close eye on us because they're always checking up on you. If you don't come to a meal, they'll come looking for you. Overall, it's been a very satisfactory experience for me here at the community.

I think the management team is doing a pretty good job. I am in the independent section so for my dining I either use the bistro or buffet. If I don't like what they have on the buffet I'll go to the bistro. I have housekeeping come in once a month and she does a real good job. Any request I have put in to maintenance has been answered successfully. They have a pretty good team here. I do have my own car but I use the transportation services also and it has been pretty good.

When we moved into this community we chose it knowing the memory care was available. If I couldn't care for him on my own anymore, I knew it would be close for him to be in the memory care. My husband and I enjoy living here. The people are friendly and the staff are very helpful. It has been a very good place to live. He enjoys soup for dinner and they gave him soup at night while he was in memory care. He enjoyed that. The housekeeping is fine. The aides would check on my husband periodically when he was in memory care and the care was fine.

I don't require much care so the care staff is pretty good to me. The activities are really good. They have a wonderful exercise room, I spend 2-3 hours a day in the gym. We have an exercise pool, it's warm and nice, there is no other place that has this. I don't have any problems getting things fixed when I need it by maintenance and they keep the building very clean.

I have lived at Glenwood Place for over 2 years. My housekeeper is excellent. Mostly the food is quite good but not all of the time because how can you feed a big group like that? They have certain dishes that are quite nice. There are enough activities that if a person wants to go into a particular one they can. The activities are quite varied so it is for the whole community.

We chose Glenwood Place because we did research and it had really good reviews. Location was a consideration and quite a few people from our church recommended it when we got down to a final 3, but so far everything has been top notch. The room is adequate and I like the setup, so I think there was a lot of thought put into it. Management has been really helpful because this was an emotional process for us, but they were very supportive and clarified things. I like the way they do dining and I think the staff gives my mother what she needs, which is the most important thing. In terms of activities, the staff keeps everyone busy and they're very attentive with the residents because they have something going on every hour, on the hour. Her room is kept clean and maintenance was very accommodating upon move-in. Overall, I would whole heartedly tell people about the place, emphasizing the healthcare staff who works there because it shows that they want to be there and help. In today's world that is priceless because if you find people that are willing to help, it's important, so I actually slept good last night for the first time in a long time. We have only been there a short time, but I only see high caliber in everything.
