The Haven and the Laurels in Stone Oak

The managers were always very courteous, worked well with me, and they really tried to help mom integrate into the community. Housecleaning was fine, both apartment cleaning and the laundry service, and mom is pretty positive about how caring an attentive the caregivers are. I think the food was fine, the building and grounds are well-kept up, and mom was safe and comfortable there. I compared a few places before moving in, and I would say the price is spot-on, maybe even a little less than average, so the value is fair.

We liked what we saw and decided that would be the best place for my father. Management has been professional when I've been there visiting my dad and he has enjoyed the meals. I've noticed plenty of activities posted; they always have something going on there so that's great that they do that. It's very clean, the dining room and entry ways appear very clean to me. The medical center nurse's station is very well maintained. Everything is running smoothly, he's getting the care he needs, they're ensuring he takes his medication, doctor visits are taken care of, and they communicate with me about what's going on, which is so important. As far as the care he's getting and for what he's experiencing there, I definitely think we're getting our money's worth. I think the pricing is very competitive and for what's offered, I'm pleased at this point. I had visited many facilities and I thought some charged an excessive amount for the care, I'm really pleased with what we've seen offered at this particular establishment.

I chose this community for my mom because it was bright, perky, the employees seemed happy to be there, the residents were happy, and I liked the circular setup. I am comfortable that Mom is safe and likes living there. I know she feels comfortable because she will let me leave without asking me to take her with me. The residents all seem to be enjoying themselves in the activities. They are laughing and talking and the aides are intermingling with them. So far I have been very impressed with housekeeping, anytime I go into my mother's room her bed is always made and her clothes are hung up. The care staff has been good with communication. They have called me with anything that has come up. If they are looking at her labs and anything doesn't look right they call me and her doctor. They are good about keeping up with her medicine and she has a lot of it. I think she thinks of it as home now.

The community is very competitively priced and offers more value than the others at the same price. The management staff are very knowlegeable, patient and understanding and explained the information. They walked us through all the paperwork and explained what we needed to move in smoothly. The building is always very clean and smells nice. It is a nice and inviting community when you go in. Everything that we have asked or brought to their attention the care staff has been quick to address it. We have been very pleased."

We've had some other friends and family members that have been at The Haven and they enjoyed it. We checked it out and so far my mom seems like she likes it and it's a pretty fair value. Management is good at communicating. The food my mom really likes, for sure and I believe they're doing well with the housekeeping and laundry services.

I feel very good about it. In general I've been very happy. The management staff have been very responsive, people have bent over backwards to help us even on their time. The people actually care about families as well as patients. Everything looks good around the community and I can't complain about the price at all.

Two big reasons we chose the community were Carol and her knowledge of Alzheimer's and senior issues and diagnosis of my uncle's situation. They're taking care of everything and the nurses call me if there are issues or with the results of a doctor's appointment. They're taking care of him well. It's a secure facility and they watch over him. They're keeping him busy which is great, he loves to do things with his hands. I think they're doing great with that. So far it's been totally clean. The caretakers always friendly and watching over him. He's doing well and he's never alone so that's good for him. They're wonderful. If someone needed it, I'd definitely recommend it.

Management was very helpful before and after we moved my mother in. The food is good, they have good options on the menu and the servers are very nice. The maintenance of the building is excellent and the caregivers have been very nice, helpful and compassionate. The team is really good and I am thrilled that my mother is there.

My family says the building is beautiful and kept very clean. The staff has been very caring and attentive to my dad. They even went as far as finding a couple other men with similiar interests as my dad to have them join him at his table. I really appreciated them taking the time to find people that he would mesh well with. Dad says the food is very good and he is happy with the dining service. All in all, the value is fantastic compared to other communities.

I felt good about my conversations with everyone there and moved my dad last month. It's very competitive from a pricing standpoint and fit as closely to our budget as possible. I like dad's apartment, and the Maintenance guys really helped us moving in. They accepted delivery for his bed and actually put it in there for him. The caregivers have been extremely helpful, stay in contact, are real easy to talk to, and they do their jobs very well. The management team is extremely responsive, easy to talk to, and they know exactly what they're talking about. Every time I'm there his apartment is very clean. My dad says he likes the food and enjoys the dining. The menu always has good choices. There's quite a lot of activities, a lot of things the residents can do. They can get as involved as they want. I haven't had any complaints.
