Island Shores Retirement Community

I've never had a complaint, it was home from the first moment. I have no criticism of Island Shores

I live at Island Shores with my wife and we think the community has a very good price. It's excellent dining and you couldn't ask for anything better, so it's probably the best restaurant in Appleton. It's very well managed, the management is accessible and they're responsive.

Management is excellent and Mom tells me the food is excellent. It's good, we're very happy with the value.

My sister decided she liked this place much better than another place we toured, so that is why we chose this. When we moved in we had everything fresh. The food is excellent here, at most places the food for elderly the food is bland and they don't like it, but this place the dining is excellent.

The care and nursing come to check on me all the time. The activities are very good and there is a good variety.

When my husband and I came to Island Shores, we knew we wouldn't move for the rest of our lifetime. We haven't had anything happen that we weren't aware of, so management has been very good to us. Things are well kept and the community has a good variety of activities offered.

I am very happy here. I am going to be 95 and I wouldn't go anyplace else. The management staff is very accommodating and I think they are doing a good job.

The management is fabulous. I am in and out of there all the time. They know me by name. They know my mom. They bring any concerns to me. They as a team work very well together. Chef Jeff does a wonderful job of trying to meet all the needs and appeal to everyone. They do offer some nice activities for the resident to participate in. The housekeeping department does a very good job. She has had the same housekeeper the entire time she has been there. Jamie is awesome, she will go out of her way for mom many times over. They do a great job on the laundry and it is no worries on her. Kevin and Rick do a very good job of keeping up with everything in maintenance. They are constantly on the move taking care of something somewhere. I can put in a requests and it will take days at the most to be fulfilled. She loves her apartment and we call it The Penthouse. The care staff treat my mother with extreme respect. They all love her. I can walk in at anytime and any of the caregivers knows who I am and will tell me any concern they have. Mom loves them.

My wife and I are really happy here and it has worked out well. There isn't a nicer place in this area. No place is cheaper than what we are paying here. We were advised to write down what we were paying a month and compare it to what we would pay here. You pay for what you get and I think it is worth it. This place is top of the line. Our apartment is a nice space. We have 900 square feet, two bedrooms and a bath and a half. We have been here a month and I haven't needed to use our stove. We only use our kitchen to heat up coffee. Management is always accessible and I get my questions answer. They do a great job and the staff is great. The food is outstanding. You get two choices every day and if you don't like one of those then there are three other choices on the second page of the menu. If you can't find something to eat then there is something wrong with you. All of the servers are really friendly and they do a good job. The staff in the kitchen has a meeting every month to find out what we like and what we don't like. There are a lot of activities. My wife is going to an exercise class this morning. They have bingo and other activities. We are busy every day. The staff has meetings with the residents about what else they should do. Housekeeping does a good job and come in bi-weekly. I like that the cleaning lady does our sheets and pillowcases and then puts them back on our bed. We had a toilet that was leaking but the maintenance man fixed it. I asked if he would put in a new toilet seat on too and he did that right away. I pay a little extra to be able to park in the underground parking area. It is really nice because it is heated. The caregivers are really good. My wife has mainly needed help using the bathroom when I am gone. The CNA's come right away when you push your pennant. They are all helpful and good. They are all great. I haven't met a bad one yet.

My mother has been at Island Shores Retirement Community since July of 2018 and she has had nothing but good things to say about the community. I think the price is fair and she is absolutely happy with her living space, so the value is satisfactory. When things here or there don't work perfectly, management gets them fixed rapidly, so I'd say they're attentive with not only her, but all of the residents at the community. The dining has gone well and she likes it a lot, so she really hasn't had many complaints at all. She likes the food and having the option of having it in the dining room or boxed style in her room, so it's nice that she can change her plans. She intends to do more activities because while she hasn't done many, all the activities sound good to her and so she is eager to get involved in what is offered. The housekeeping is going really well, since they're coming when they're supposed to, and laundry has been satisfactory too. In terms of maintenance, the maintenance crew replaced her carpeting in December, so she has been happy with that. Overall, she likes it at the community.
