Morningside House of Friendship

We visited a whole lot of communities and Morningside actually wanted my brother to come live there, they met him and felt it was a good fit. He recently passed away and the management, with everything that we have been through, everyone was caring and concerned, and showed real empathy for our situation and for him. The care givers were always straight-forward, caring, very efficient; anything that was needed, they were there for, and they truly, truly, truly cared for him. We were satisfied with apartment cleaning and everything was always sorted, hung, not mixed up, laundry was well done. My brother didn’t need much or ask much, but when he did maintenance was right on it. They had a lot of activities and performances that got a lot of residents to watch and participate. There were times he needed assistance from the dining room servers and that was fine, and the quality of food was fine. The value, what you get for the fit, I don’t think there's any comparison. I just wish he could have lived there a little bit longer.

Everything that I have seen in actvities we like. They keep her busy and that is what she needs to keep her brain stimulated. My mother-in-law is happy with the service from maintenance and care. We like the availability of having transportation take her where she needs to go when we can't take her.

I like the management. The quality of the food seems fine and the service is okay. From what I have seen the activities are very good. Housekeeping is fine and my wife is very well taken care of. I like the aides and they are respectful.

My mom has Dementia with Parkinson's, so she really doesn't understand what is going on, but my dad is also at Morningside House of Friendship and he is happy being there. The fact that he is sharing a room with her and able to be with her, I am satisfied with management at the community. With regards to activities, the community definitely does provide a wide variety of different activities, especially the music, so that is satisfactory and every time I am there, everything seems to be clean, so the housekeeping has been good. I know maintenance is doing well because everything is always taken care of and they have upgraded the building with putting in a lot of furniture over the last few months, so everything looks really good. We use transportation services to get my father to the Doctor and they have always done well, plus have been on time. Regarding the care staff, my dad says he is always happy with everything that is going on and they always have my parents ready for events. It's not just the day-to-day caregivers, but the Nurses have also been very good whenever I communicate with them monthly, so overall it's been a satisfactory experience thus far.

It is so convenient for my mother and I that I can take her to visit him and I can bring him home. Our main thing was convenience and having a place that had a good reputation and it seems to bear out with everything that we read and heard about it. We frankly are very impressed. I am encouraging my mother to go there when she gets to the point if she needs more assistance then what I can provide. It is very well known in the community because it has been there for twenty years. I don't have anything to compare it to but I have been really pleased with the management. I really like them. Dad really likes everything. He says that there is more than enough and they have well thought out menus. He is ecstatic about the food. There is no problem with the housekeeping. The laundry has been perfect. The maintenance has helped us quite a bit. In fact they moved him from one room to another and they were so helpful. My dad loves them all. The care givers have been very good to him and they have even called me if there is a problem or a question. We are very happy with the way things are going.

Mom is safe, she is watched closely, always has been. We’re satisfied with the management, the housekeeping, and the maintenance. The care givers go above the call of duty. We feel mom is well treated and we are always treated respectfully by staff.

Everything seems to be going smooth, I'm pleased with the place. I think the management staff are very good and I have been pleased with the nursing staff. He seems to eat the food and there are good dining areas.

We moved my dad in because it's close to my home and the quality of care he would receive there. We went, did a tour, and found them to be hospitable and open, and very transparent, so we felt very comfortable. I absolutely would recommend it to anyone else. I’ve been extremely pleased with the doctor that has seen him, the therapist and psychiatrist who have seen my dad. I am extremely impressed with the way they handle his information. They ask me questions, answer mine. His medication is dispensed well. Everybody is nice. My husband and I have noticed a positive change since dad moved in. The LPNs and aides have all been nice to us, and my dad says they're nice. I see them doing puzzles and things. Every time we walk in there they are doing Zumba, keno, games, and from what I’ve witness the activities in Assisted Living and Memory Care looks good to me. The fronts of house managers have been extremely responsive to us. If I have a concern they get back to me right away and explain things or fix it. Overall they're very nice. Dad did fall twice and they called us immediately and gave us an assessment. I've been there when dad has his meals and the food looks good to me. The care givers assist with their eating, so I think it's good. Maintenance did initial work before dad moved in. they repaired a window, and replaced the HVAC unit, and fixed the emergency alarm, all before he moved in. The landscaping is beautiful and the building is in tip-top shape. Healthcare is all expensive, but it's peace of mind. He's safe, he's cared for, and the value for what we're getting, you could not replace that. They encourage us to come visit, they invited us on Thanksgiving, and I feel he's safe. We have no complaints.

It seems like the staff is in more of a good mood then other places and I have to give the management credit for that. The activities staff are doing very well. The care staff is doing great. They really seem to be getting into it and they care about the residents and it shows through. I think the maintenance and housekeeping staffs do a good job as well.

My mom talks about this community as her home and that is a big step. We are happy with her apartment but she isn't in it very much because she is usually downstairs participating in the activities. Heidi just came in and is doing great with the activities. She has a variety of activities and encourages the residents to participate. I feel Liselle, in management, is very aware of what is going on. If something is happening, she will take care of it. My mom loves John who heads the dining. All the young men who serve are very polite and the food selection is great. They get choices. I have no problem with the laundry. Nothing gets lost and the housekeeping is generally good. Karen, one of the housekeepers, is very friendly and will look out for lost items. The building always looks good. Kaitlyn is the new bus driver. You couldn't ask for anyone sweeter or kinder. I haven't had any problems getting my mom somewhere or getting on and off the bus. Two caregivers, Keisha and Denise, are very helpful. The receptionist, Melissa, is just what you want. She is always smiling, respectful and kind. She is very attentive and knows everybody. I can't think of anybody I don't like.
