Northlake Gardens

Part of why my friend moved in was access to her physician and she just liked the ambiance of the facility, she likes the unit, and we met with Elena Connor and she really liked her, she felt comfortable talking with her and thought she was a nice lady. There's security on the front door and the office is right there, it's pretty well observed and monitored, I just think they do a really nice job. Management is very friendly, they create a hospitable location, when I have questions they have certainly answered them, I just could not have asked for better feedback. The dining is excellent, the Christmas brunch was very good and other family members have had high compliments for the food too. The available activities are very good and everything is clean in the common areas and in her particular room. I think it's an excellent value, primarily because of the location, the food, the way the facility is maintained; I would think it was a good value for the food alone.

We chose this community for my mom because we've had previous family members that have been there. My mom was only there for 14 days on respite care. We're very pleased with the staff from the custodians on up and they were very concerned and consistent with what they did on a day to day basis. I didn't experience any questionable activity that I was concerned that she was not in a safe and secure place. My brother and I were very comfortable that she was in a place that appeared to be very caring and conscientious.

I moved my mom in because she was in there before so we were familiar with how they did things. Some of the people are still there and they remembered her. Also, it is the most affordable one. The management watches after her and if there is problem they will call me and she loves the food.

The level of care and every single person at Northlake Gardens was just phenomenal. Everybody cared, I've been in places where it was a job to them, but here, everybody cared. They knew my mother in law's name and my name; issues were immediately taken care of. I felt like they had an open door policy, they always answered her questions or my calls, to me they were angels. Amelia, the financial gal, was just one of the nicest, most professional, people; she was just a joy to deal with. There was always something going on in the activities room. Young people came in and sang to them, they did puzzles, and bible study, and they had a chili cook-off and painting days, Christmas and Thanksgiving. My mom just loved Thomas in maintenance and the building was beautiful. He seemed to enjoy talking to her, he came immediately to help her, and she loved the housekeeping staff. I really can't say enough good things about the people there and the care.

We chose Northlake Gardens for my friend because when she visited the community, she liked it. I'd say the price is fair because I have been satisfied with the services and accommodations provided at the community; she feels safe and comfortable at the community. So far the things that we have needed and called for, management has been very helpful with. I haven't had the food, but there is one lady that eats with my friend quite a bit and she says the food is good, so everything has been good with the dining experience. I know she attends Bingo, when she didn't participate in that in other communities, so she is adapting to the community and that's great. Housekeeping services has been by to do her laundry and I think the community looks very nice. Regarding my friend's care, I have been pretty satisfied with the healthcare staff. The girls are always checking in on her to see if they can assist with her in any way. Overall, I think they're doing an excellent job at the community. The activities and the personnel seem to be very good because people seem to be concerned, so we are really liking that.

While my mother was at the community I loved the Director and was astonished by how available she was. They were always very concerned about anytime my mother-in-law had a bruise on her. They took things very serious. The med techs said my mother-in-law refused to eat. She asked her what she could get her that she would eat and she wanted oatmeal. She went down to the dining department and go them to fix her some oatmeal. I was shocked by that. She made a special effort to go and get her something she wanted. Her friends said the activities were great. They told me about all the things they had her doing. I will say that everyone in care has been super nice. I was very impressed with the leadership. Everyone was so nice.

Northlake Gardens is local to me, relatively close to my home. That makes going over there easier and I liked that it's smaller. In Memory Care there are only 13 rooms. It seemed more like a community where mom could find companionship. I'm satisfied with the management team; Alana helped me get everything done. I think mom likes it better than my cooking. I like that they let her pick the food. She has problems with the menus and they show her plates and let her pick from the plates. In the Memory Care area, they explained that to me, and I think that really helps. Every time I go over there it looks like they're in the community area playing games or doing puzzles. It looks like they're keeping them stimulated. It seems like they're on top of housekeeping and maintenance there. The community looks good. Inside, one of the big things about it is it doesn’t smell bad. We looked at quite a few communities, and I think the value is pretty good. Mom looks good, seems to be in good spirits, and it does look like she's eating. I think the caregivers are doing a better job than I was.

My dad was familiar with the area and when we visited, everyone was very friendly and welcoming, people really seemed happy. It was clean and nice and we also liked the garden, we thought that was a nice feature. My father was able to get one of the bigger apartments so he was happy about that, overall it seemed like a good fit for him. Katrina, the Director, always responds and I always get the information I ask for so she's been great. Whenever I'm there there are always things going on, I've seen bowling, bingo, a concert, a chili cookoff, I think they have a lot of activities people like. Everyone seems to be doing what they can to make him comfortable. My brothers and I were all relieved to have him in there where someone is looking after him and can help him and providing meals, so I think it's really excellent.

We chose to move my mom into Northlake because I needed something right away for my mother and it's very convenient to me, my sister and where my mother did live. Also, in the past my mother had friends that lived there, she would visit and always had complimentary things to say about the place. My mother seems to really enjoy the food. From the day I just dropped in to see if they had a vacancy, the management staff were very friendly, outgoing and obliging. This was my number one choice and my prayers were answered when I found out they had openings!

I chose the community for my friend because she needed a higher level of care and it's close to my house. The times I have eaten with her, it's been really good. She just recently started going down to the dining room. She really enjoys the food. I've been there for some music and I'm there every day and see things, the activities look nice. The caregivers are all very nice and personable. We're pleased with things, definitely.
