The Oaks, A Merrill Gardens Community

They are doing a great job in taking care of mom and we feel like she is getting the best of care. The management staff has been pretty open, honest and receptive to individual needs. I haven't had any bad experiences, yet. They are there all the times it seems, especially the senior direector. A lot of fresh food instead of frozen or canned is served. The service is good. They have enough staff and they go a pretty good job of keeping them happy.

Mom seems to enjoy the activities such as the crafty things they do and the puzzles. From what I have seen the housekeeping is excellent. Whenever she needs a picture hung or something repaired the maintenance man has always been prompt and done a satisfactory job.

Management has been very helpful through this whole process, they're always very friendly when I go and see them, they're just very pleasant people. My parents use the transportation services to go on the scenic routes quite often and they enjoy that. The healthcare staff is very friendly, they're all very happy and smiling and always say hi, they're a great group.

Management has good communication, they're friendly, they always greet me when I come visit. I appreciate working with them, they're very straightforward and communicative with me. The dining is always very good when I stop by to have dinner with mom and Christian, the Head Chef there, is phenomenal, he's very very good. The building always seems to be very orderly and clean, in tip-top shape.

I am pretty satisfied with this community. Overall the management has been great and my mom enjoys the food. One day a week, they take the residents out for outings and from what I understand, that goes very well. She enjoys it. The caregivers are very responsive and very nice. They seem like they are doing a great job. The price is based on the level of care and she requires a lot of care but I think the price is fair.

Darryl is one of the medical assistants that has been there for a long time and he is one of the best there. He's just really good and I appreciate him. Jeff the driver is very personable. The dining room staff go above and beyond with getting the meals delivered, it's been a good experience with the servers as well. The housekeeping service are good. The blonde girl in housekeeping is really on top of things and if we need anything it's always taken care of. The laundry service is very good as well, my dad hardly has anything in his basket. Regarding activities, it's nice to have the puzzle room and that is one activity that my dad is most involved in.

Management went out of their way to help me. All of the other services were satisfactory while I was wintering there.

Management is very friendly when you walk in, it's a very welcoming atmosphere. The dining area is very pleasant and the activities staff is very engaging. The place is very clean and it looks like they take care of my mother's apartment well. I like the outside patio and the fact they have a fireplace. The nurse is very proactive and welcomes family feedback so I do appreciate that, they call me when issues come up, I think they're very dedicated and competent. I'm glad my mother is there and appreciates the care she receives; since my mother has been there her spirit has been raised so I'm happy. Given what the facility has to offer, I think the cost is very fair, a lot of facilities cost more and don't provide many of the things that the Oaks provide.

The apartment is pretty clean and I always see the maids out there. When mom and dad have any problems the maintenance staff come pretty quickly. My parents don't want to be involved but they do do a few things. One time they got on the bus to go to the casino. They do share a calendar.

Cheryl, at the front desk is outstanding. Anytime we have a problem we go to her and she gets it fixed immediately. Debbie, the general manager, got right on the stick with a recent issue. The chef, Chris, was great. No one can top Cheryl or Kristin, the activities director, they are great. I think they are awesome in the laundry area. They do the linens and make my dad's bed great. Just the finance person, Jessica, I think is great. We pay on time or early There has been one or two times in the two years if she could wait a day and she has because he knows we pay so great. I love it when they work with you. When they know you are as good as your word.
