The Retreat at Sunbrook Assisted Living

The value is fair, and my dad’s apartment is good, I like it. I like the layout of the whole building. I think the activities are excellent. There's a variety of things to do. Transportation is excellent. He's never mentioned a problem scheduling and it's always available. I think the managers have been very attentive, good at their job, and we are very, very pleased. The care givers have always been very helpful and I think they're good. We've been extremely happy we feel it's a nice place and he's been treated well.

I am there 6 days a week and I think that the people taking care of him are definitely excellent. Every day I vist, I see something on the door and my brother does participate in some activities, so the activities are great. With management, I have called them, had meetings with them and they're always willing to talk as well as help work things out. There isn't anything that I don't think the community is doing, so they're going a great job and the value is above average.

Management seems to support us with everything that we need and any questions I have are taken care of. They're attentive to the needs of each individual there, they're very good management. All of the CNAs and the staff are so friendly and genuinely concerned with what's going on. They're all enjoyable to be around. Everyone is very active and there are a lot of things to do. Housekeeping does a good job and maintenance as well. I've had to use maintenance 2 or 3 times and they've always done a good job. We checked out everything in the valley and this is a fair price.

Moving in has been a good thing for him. I already recommended it to my neighbor. The management made the transition easy and seamless. They've been very responsive. Alexis at the front desk is a real joy and Julie is a wonderful nurse. He does a lot of the activities there, he's a real social person. They have afternoon movies with popcorn. He loves the pool table there, he plays every day. He organized a pinochle club so they play twice a week now. Housekeeping launders his bedding and he's been happy with that. Hs room always seems clean when I am over there. When my dad has problems with his TV the maintenance guys try to address it. Larry helped him hang his pictures and things like that. My dad used to do stained glass and some of those panels got hung too, which he enjoys. The care staff is all young, like, under 40, and they are all very responsive and they get it, they know how to relate to the elderly. For the most they have been very responsive. We’re very satisfied overall.

The care is very good, an aide checks her blood pressure every day; otherwise the staff takes great care of the residents.

There are only 2 or 3 top places in there area and I'd say The Retreat is one of them. It's a good location, new building, very clean and it's a smaller facility. Management is good. They have a doctor that comes to the clinic which is nice and maintenance has been great.

We have checked around at other places and the price is comparable. It might be a little more but it is a brand new community. My mom's apartment serves her needs. She is in a studio apartment with a nice view which she loves. The one reason why we have kept her here is because she feels safe. Everyone knows her and calls her by name. I think the management is great. Garrett does a great job and the communication and follow through are good. This community has a good menu variety. I like that they have a salad bar and different kinds of soup every day. I think the quality of the food is good and the service is great. The servers know my mom really well and call her by name. When I join her for meals they know what she wants to drink before she even orders it. I think the activities are fabulous. Amanda, the activities director, does a fantastic job. Housekeeping has gotten better. They come in and do a few things. We have noticed that the bedding is sometimes wet because my mom wears depends. When we call down about that they send someone right up. I put her clothes in the washing machine and then they bring it back. Some of the gals who bring it back put it away and some leave it in the basket which is fine. I put it away for her then. We have a system and it is working out. Her couch had some stains on it. The new maintenance guy took charge and decided to wash her couch. We were so grateful and thankful he did that. Anytime we have had any problems maintenance fixes them the next day. When she has been sick or if she falls and scrapes her knee the caregivers are great about checking on her. They bring her meals up if she is sick. Becky, the gal over the CNA's, was fantastic. She left but the new guy has done a really great job. They lost quite a few CNA's but he has gotten them all on the same page so my mom gets the same care every day. He has done a really nice job and I have been pleased.

It isn't cheap to live here but they make a real effort to give you your money's worth. Management is very nice to us and accommodating. They keep us up to date. The food is good a lot of the time and they make a real effort to make the food look attractive and taste good. The service is quite good and they never criticize you for not cleaning your plate. I enjoy the music programs they bring in and I like the exercise and bingo they offer. The housekeeper seems to be very diligent. She seldom misses a day and if she does miss a day, then she will make it up. She will do anything you ask her. I think the housekeeping is good. This community really tries to make the transportation convenient and they never turn you down if you have to go to an appointment or shopping. The driver makes a real effort and the driver seems safe. I think the vehicles are good. I think they maintain the vehicles as well as they can. The caregivers are very cooperative and they try to help you with whatever you ask them to do.

The community was close to my home and I heard some very nice things about it. Management does their best to please the people living here and that impresses me very much and the building maintenance could not be any better. I have several people in mind that are very interested in coming to look at my place to see if they want to live here.

Housekeeping does a great job for my mom. We’re satisfied with the menu and food in the dining hall, and the variety of the activities. I find the management respectful, the transportation flexible, and maintenance to be good. The care staff is really great. Everything is wonderful, and my sister and I love it.
