The Retreat at Sunbrook Assisted Living

Mom and dad have been comfortable there for a year, safe in their apartment, and they have company all the time. The food and dining have improved a lot, and we’re satisfied with the variety of activities. Mad uses the transportation a lot and we’re happy with the flexibility of it. The care staff is available and responsive, wand we’re satisfied with maintenance and housekeeping. I have talked quite a bit with the Executive Director and he is very patient and responsive to questions, he's a very patient man. It’s a good value.

I’m safe here in my apartment, and comfortable. The management team is doing their job, they're friendly, helpful, and courteous. Most of the care givers are excellent, they're very, very good. There’s quite a few activities to participate in. They do a good job and keep everyone happy. It’s a fair value for what I pay, everybody is friendly, helpful, and the staff all seem happy. That makes a big difference. It's a nice place.

For what Mom needs and is getting it is worth the money. In my opinion the food looks good and there are plenty of activities offered. It is a beautiful facility and I feel very fortunate that my mother has the means to live in a place like that. I was pleased on the tour of the enhanced care area that there was no smell. I think the care has been great. I have no complaints.

I chose this community for my mom because a number of our friends have relatives or friends there and they've spoken so highly of it. I checked into this place and loved it. The care has been absolutely excellent. The day my mom moved in she wanted her TV set up and the maintenance guy stayed after his normal shift to set it up for her. Everything in the building is amazing and they have a variety of activities. My mom loves the food and says she feels spoiled like she's eating at a 5 star hotel. I told the management that this is where I want to go when I'm older and I told them to reserve me a room.

The managers there seem interested in my mother and try to make her happy and comfortable. And they know her. My mom's been pretty healthy so I haven’t had much to do with the care staff recently. In the past they were just fantastic. My mom’s happy with the food there. I don’t eat there often, but the food I've had has been good, and I think the activities are great. I think housekeeping does a good job and maintenance is good, I haven’t any complaints. Mom is safe there; everyone seems friendly, interested, and concerned about each other. The staff and residents are generally happy, and my mom is very comfortable there.

I live close by, and the amenities, and the help for people, that's why we chose it for my mother. The front-end managers are accessible, and help mom just immediately. The caregivers are wonderful, and we’re satisfied with the maintenance team. Everything is just fine.

Overall it's a good value and I do think it is a very nice facility. I think what they serve the residents is healthy food and not just pasta all the time. The activities director plans and has a curriculum for the residents. She knows each of the residents and their sensitivities and their likes and dislikes. The gentleman in maintenance is very helpful, kind and friendly. If you ask him personally to do something he will go with you right then. The building itself is absolutely beautiful. We have used the transportation service one time and it worked out very well and it took a huge load off my shoulders because I was out of town. There is a special place for the people on the care staff. They like my mother so they treat her very well. She has never wanted for anything. I find them to be very responsive to her.

The care staff is good and I feel like my dad is getting good care. My dad has been pretty happy with the dining. The waiting staff does a good job, they get used to everyone's needs and give that personal attention and we appreciate that too. Everything is maintained well in the building. I think the housekeeping and laundry are really good services as well. There seems like there are a lot of activities going on, and overall I think they are doing a great job over in this community.

My mom is really starting to love it there and things are going really well. My mom is happy and well taken care of. She is very happy to eat in the dining room and most of the time she says the food is wonderful. The servers treat mom kindly in the dining room. It seems that the activities that they have are great and Mom says, "If I did everything they have to offer I'd never get anything done."

Mom's apartment is an ideal layout for her situation, she has her own washer and dryer and it's easy to get around it. That's why we chose Retreat at Sunbrook, the room size and layout. Over the past two years there, the caregivers call me whenever there is even a possible issue. They're very sensitive to what is going on and call the family if there's any possible thing wrong like blood pressure. We haven’t had a crisis, things have been pretty good and mom's very healthy. They have a good system with the panic button and periodic check-ups with the nurse. They know more about my mom's health than I do. They do as good job watching everybody. It’s pretty good, pretty comforting to know they're on it. The maintenance people seem to be responsive to any issue, and the community is always well cared for. Management has been very courteous and responsive, the place is always clean, and I think the activities are pretty good. They have a good variety and encourage the residents to participate. It's a good value, and based on the other communities we toured, we'd highly recommend it.
