The Sheridan at Birmingham

Dad has lived in The Sheridan for the past year and recently moved into Memory care. Compared to other Memory Care places the size of the apartment is great. The management actually interacts with the residents. The care givers are nice and patient with residents. Dad is absolutely safe and comfortable , and for me the value is priceless.

I think this community is an excellent value. Management is attentive, concerned and they do a great job. The transportation is excellent and the activites are very good. They are always doing something and they have a lot of different things that they can do. The residents are encouraged to participate. The caregivers are attentive, they care a lot about the residents and they know what they are doing. There is nothing better out there.

It's a nice place, so I like it. It's been an excellent experience and for sure, I'd recommend it to others.

We chose the community because we felt it had a more competent staff, the buillding itself was much brighter in appearance, and the activities for Memory Care seemed to be very robust. We came from a place that was not favorable, we moved from one Memory Care Community to another so we are very happy with the move. The activities are perfect, I think they've done an excellent job of keeping my mother in law occupied and the healthcare staff are willing to work with us which is really fantastic.

We toured it before it opened and thought it was nice, toured it again and the accommodations and the people were also lovely and mom moved in. We feel the price is fair for what she gets.. The aides are very nice and good. The nurses, we haven’t had a lot of contact, but in terms of availability, paperwork, and talking to them they're very good. She likes the music they bring in. they have a piano, people come in to play that, there's singers, other musicians come in. They brought in animals one day and she liked that a lot. Even some of the things in the art studio she can do. One day they made dog treats for an animal shelter and she could do that. They try hard. It’s a nice place and we really like it.

We looked around and they are very competitive with the cost and the service is outstanding. With her here I know that someone will be there to help her and if anything happens they would call me. It is wonderful so far. The management has been absolutely fabulous. I live down in Florida and I handled all the transactions from there and they couldn't have been more helpful and wonderful to work with. The housekeepers just did my mom's place and she thought it was great. David in maintenance has been absolutely fabulous. The care has been absolutely fabulous.

Management has been good. They have been pretty responsive to requests and they are very friendly and nice. The staff make a big effort with the activities and my dad participates in the exercise class which I appreciate. The building looks pretty good and overall the maintenance seems to be pretty okay. They were helpful in the beginning. The caregivers have been pretty good and when he has needed help, they have been helpful.

I think the activities are phenomenal. My mom can’t do much but they are open in asking. They are great at trying to find things to do that everybody will like. Mom has used the community van for outings and I assume it's all going well. Her apartment is very nice and it always seems to be clean. Laundry, cleaning the apartment, and making the bed, housekeeping consistently does a good job with that. Mom’s had some little hiccups, like hardware on the door or windows and maintenance attends to it very quickly. The care givers are so attentive and friendly, always looking out for the residents. The management team is very attentive. They are very responsive and correct situations. Given the market, the price is very fair, the value is good. I feel it is safe and secure. I feel comfortable she is well taken care of.

I chose this community for my sister because it was a nice and bright facility, it seemed to have a lot of activities and the people look happy there. The care staff is great. I had a problem with medications and the nurse took care of it for me. The building is brand new. The activities are very good and they're very versatile. In terms of dining, I think the food is very good there and there is a good variety.

Based on other communities around they are all in the same area. Micheal worked with us with some specials that were going on. He was good about helping us with what we needed to do before the price went up for the following year. Everyone has been very receptive to my concerns and that is all I can ask. My mom says the food is good. I have seen it and it looks good and certainly smells good. From what I see the activities appear to be good and they seem to keep them busy. She has been engaged and gone on a couple outings with them. So far we have been happy with everything.
