The Sheridan at Birmingham

Things are always expensive but I think it is worth it. She has a nice space and is close to the elevator. The food served seems wholesome. I think the portions are good, it isn't too much food. I have eaten a number of meals there. The staff in dining is very attentive. I like the activities. I really like the activity person. My mom is doing really well there. She came from another facility where she was falling a lot. She is doing really well here and it is a big improvement. The maintenance staff helped me put stuff on the walls and I think they did a nice job with that. The building is beautiful. They do an immaculate job. We have used the transportation and it is great. I like the way I am able to schedule the service. I think the caregivers are wonderful. I like all of them. They have hired good staff. We had to wait a little while yesterday when we called them but they came in apologizing. They are good.

I'm very pleased with everything in general, I think it's a really good place, the building is beautiful. I've been impressed with management, they've been very receptive. I think my parents are really pleased with the dining. The healthcare staff is good about getting them the meds, they were on top of things. Overall, I've been pleased.

Management is very attentive and for the most part have really good follow up. They get back with and communicate with the family. The food is pretty good. The daily meals change and then there is a menu that is there all the time. The staff seem to be asking the residents their input on the activities which I think is good. I have always found that my aunt's room seems to be clean. If she needs something extra, they are good at that. Laundry seems to get back to the right person. Maintenance is very responsive when there is an issue. We just moved my other aunt in because we are so pleased with her care.

Yvette, who runs the memory care, is fabulous. She is receptive and emails and calls me back. Michael, the director is great as well. I think for the most part my mom enjoys the food. The staff is going to try to get some of the higher functioning residents over to the assisted living to participate in some of their activities. The laundry and maintenance has been fine. If she needs something, maintenance comes right away. For the most part, the care is good.

We chose it because of the location, it was a nice facility, price-wise it was comparable and I wanted to make sure my mom was close to friends. It seems like there is a good variety of food, it's quality food, and the dining staff is responsive. There are a lot of activities and I think that's great, they're very well planned and targeted to their audience. I think housekeeping is pretty diligent, they check every day, empty the garbage daily, and the place always seems clean. She's used transportation a couple times and said it's been great, she said it was convenient and they had enough time when they went shopping. The healthcare staff has been great, they're always there, they're responsive, they say hello, they give you a response if you ask them a question, they seem great in terms of being respectful and knowledgeable.

Compared to where he came from, I am paying less money and getting more for my money at The Sheridan at Birmingham. It's amazing how easy it is to get ahold of someone, the meals are wonderful and overall, my dad enjoys the activities offered. My dads apartment is always clean, his laundry is getting done and maintenance goes above and beyond the line of duty. The community itself is just beautiful with the daylight, I love how the rooms are upstairs away from the gathering area and with regards to care, they're so wonderful that I feel like I am walking into a family reunion whenever I go there so overall, our experience has been positive.

My mom and dad moved into this community in May of 2018. The management is always respectful and willing to listen. My mom likes the food and the activites are good. They have a daily calendar that comes out in a newsletter form. That is handy for the residents. Housekeeping does very well. The gal who cleans dad's apartments is very friendly. She came by a few times when I was visiting and told him she would come back later but we just told her to do what she needed to do. She does a good job. Dave is a great guy. We had a special shower rack installed in dad's apartment. We had an issue with the wall plug that was not working and Dave addressed that as well. This community is a nice place. Everybody at this community is real friendly and attentive. My mom has improved vastly from where she was before this communtiy and she really likes it here.

I moved my mother into The Sheridan and so far everything has been fine. The food is good and everything has gone quite smoothly. If there's anything the maintenance department is there quickly, we've been happy with it. I haven't had any complaints.

It's a beautiful community and had everything we were looking for with my mother. We felt it was a very nice and secure place for her to be. The entire management staff has been very personable and very helpful. Nancy and Mike made it feel like she was at home and cared for. The food is good. The activities are great. There are 6 or 7 activities a day. The community is beautiful. She uses transportation and that has been really nice. The healthcare is really good. She pushed her lanyard and they were in there within 5 minutes, it's been great. All around, it's a very wonderful place and everything is very loving, so overall it's good.

It's been a blessing to me because I live near here; she's living an hour away so having her close is wonderful to help keep an eye on her and things. The whole place is a blessing; they really take a load off of our family knowing how caring they are. My mother just fell in love when she saw it. It was new, it was clean, and the amenities that were offered were great. The few staff that we met when we were there were all great. I know I've worked with a few of them and they've just been outstanding in their care and attention to the residents and their family.
The activities are just starting up but they're coming up with great ideas. She picks and chooses and she's liked everything she's gone to. She hasn't been going out much, but you know, they seem to be coming up with more and more and more ideas for activities and variety for them. I'm sure it'll keep getting better and I know they ask the residents what's interesting to them and they're trying to incorporate those interests into the activities. It's a great staff there; they're very concerned about their residents' activity and movement. The caregivers are so wonderful, they are so marvelous, they are so sweet and caring, and always smiling and concerned and very attentive. The bathroom door wouldn't close tight and maintenance was right on it. It's always very clean and well-kept. Overall, it has been such a blessing.
